William Eugene “Bill” Mansfield, 84, of Panama City Beach, passed away Monday, July 30, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his loved ones and friends.

Bill was born in Garden Grove, CA in 1927, and lived in Bay County since 1992. He joined the U.S. Navy, transferred to the U.S. Army Air Corps, and retired as a CMSGT with the U.S. Air Force after 21 years service.

Bill worked with NSA while with the Air Force. After his military career, he worked as a manager for the Burroughs Corporation and NCR until his retirement. Bill enjoyed bowling, building his own computers, and his beloved cats. He was a member of the Gulf Beach Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Virginia Maguire Mansfield; his parents, Dorothy Curtis Mansfield and George Alan Mansfield; a sister, Louise Costello, and a grandson, Nate Mansfield. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Marilyn B. Mansfield of Panama City Beach; his children, Kathy Wright (Dr. Bill Wright) of Lansing, MI, Gary Mansfield (Jane) of Dayton, OH, Dennis Mansfield (Sue) of Boise, ID, Janet Kaiser (Tom) of Maryland, JoAnne Mansfield of Dallas, TX, Joyce Byl (Dan) of Acworth, GA and Ken Mansfield of Dallas, TX; his step-children, Diane Ruth of Chesapeake, VA and Cheryl Peters of Dayton, OH; 22 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and his loving kitty Molly.
