Army Corporal Stephen Daniel Shannon, age 21, of Guttenberg, Iowa was born the son of Dan and Joan (Barud) Shannon, May 6, 1985, in Maquoketa, Iowa.

Stephen graduated from the Clayton Ridge High School in 2003, attended University of Northern Iowa, and served his country in the United States Army, 397th Combat Engineers in Dodgeville, Wisconsin.

He was an artist, musician, and enjoyed hunting, Star Wars, Star Trek, and computer games. Friends and family will remember him for his sense of humor.

Those left to cherish his memory are his parents, Joan and Dan, two sisters, Kathleen Shannon, and Molly Shannon, two brothers, Patrick Shannon and Jack Shannon, maternal grandparents, Ed and Lois Barud, paternal grandparents, Clifford and Sylvia Davenport, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
