Private, 980TH FIELD ARTILLERY BATTALION (105MM), 40th Infantry Division

2/17/1953, Korea

Private Pearson was a member of the 40th Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in Korea on February 17, 1953. His nickname was “Ted.”

From his sister Susie:

I was Ted’s little sister, Susie. I was seven years old when we lost Ted. The loss changed our lives forever. It wasn’t until I was into my 40s that I was able to watch a war movie.

Ted was a tender, loving big brother; more like a second father to me. He would offer sticks of gum to get me to sit on his lap. He and his wife Joanne wanted a child of their own so badly. Unfortunately, Joanne had a miscarriage.

Ted was a special brother. I will always remember him!

Ted’s decorations include the Purple Heart, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Korean War Service Medal.
