Nick Indahl was born October 4, 1980, in Anchorage, Alaska, to Steve and Marcia Indahl. He excelled in sports and music, as well as being an honor student. His favorite activities revolved around music. He earned four letters playing alto saxophone in the symphonic band, and was a member of the 1998 Alaska All-State Band. One of his most memorable events was a band trip to Hawaii where the group placed second in the Pacific Basin Music Festival. Nick also mastered in playing the piano and frequently spent his leisure time playing for friends and family.
Nick was a member of the Aurora Swim Team for 12 years, and swam for Dimond High School in Anchorage, where he earned four athletic letters. He was given the Team Spirit award by fellow swimmers. He also earned letters for outstanding academic achievement and was named Student of the Week by the Alaska Sports Broadcasting Network.
Nick Indahl, 22, of Anchorage, Alaska, died Thursday, November 28, 2002, as the result of a tragic car accident. He is survived by his parents, Steve and Marcia, brother, Joey, sister, Christina, grandmother, Luella Indahl, of Anchorage, Alaska; grandparents, Richard and Lois Olson, of Bemidji, Minn.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
His family wrote: “Nick’s sparkling personality and zest for life affected everyone who knew him. He was boisterous and full of energy. Nick loved to entertain us by playing the piano, telling jokes, and making us laugh. He was a loving and faithful son, brother, and friend. Nick had a strong faith in God, and we are comforted by the fact that he is in safe, loving hands.”
