Petty Officer 3rd Class Nathan Nicholas Hafterson, U.S. Navy, died suddenly on Monday, March 27, 2006, in Jacksonville, FL. He was 21 years old. Nathan was stationed at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, FL, where he was a non-acoustic radar operator on the P-3 Orion, Military Aircraft. He had been in the Navy for 2 years. AW3 Nathan N. Hafterson died in the emergency room at Jacksonville Naval Air Station after showing up with extremely low blood-sugar levels.

Petty Officer Hafterson was born on May 16, 1984, in Ogden, Utah. He attended Prestwood Elementary School and Altimira Middle School, both in Sonoma Valley, CA. He graduated from Eagle Point High School in Eagle Point, Oregon in 2002. He was the loving son of Matthew W. and Barbara J. Hafterson of Ogden, Utah.

He is also survived by his sister Lauren Hafterson Quinonez and her husband, a nephew, and grandmothers Bobbie Tarvid and Barbara A. Hafterson. Nate leaves numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Nathan will be remembered as an energetic, articulate, loving and passionate son, brother, grandson and Officer. He loved his family and family gatherings and was particularly passionate about body building. He had a big heart and a great smile.
