DAVENPORT, IA, USA U.S. Army SPC, TROOP B, 1ST SQUADRON, 4TH CAVALRY, 4 BCT, FORT RILEY, KS BAGHDAD, IRAQ 06/15/2007

Specialist Michael Patrick Pittman was a man among men. Michael joined the Army to provide security for his wife and four children, but he also had a dream. From the time he was five,

Michael could hold a pencil and draw. He had an imagination to go with his pencil and he would draw pictures of anything that he could see. He wanted to go to college and get a degree in art so that he could teach.

He was a peacemaker. He was the person who insisted that everyone be there when one of his siblings was at odds with another one. He would talk until they would finally hug and make up. He was an excellent son, husband and father. He loved his wife and children above everything, except for God. His love of God made him the man that he was.

He re-enlisted June 15th, 2007, just a few hours before he died in Baghdad, Iraq. He believed that he was there for a purpose and he was ready to stay. He loved the little Iraqi children and always asked for candy to give them. Michael was a great man and an American hero.
