Private Lawrence Roesner was a member of I Company, 31st Infantry Regiment. He was one of the unit’s 1,155 members to have died in captivity at the hands of the Japanese during 42 months of captivity in the Philippines, Formosa, Manchuria, and Japan between 1942-1945. The 31st Regiment was forced to participate in the now infamous “Bataan Death March”.
