PEMBROKE PINES, FL, USA U.S. Army SPC, COMPANY B, 2D BATTALION, 7TH INFANTRY, (TF LIBERTY), FORT STEWART, GA BAYJI, IRAQ 10/29/2005

Specialist Kenny Dwayne Rojas was from Pembroke Pines, Florida. He made fellow students at Flanagan High School laugh. While his mother, Denia, wanted him to go to college, Kenny followed his father, Carlos, and older brother, Steve, into the military.

Specialist Rojas was assigned to Bravo Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division from Fort Stewart, Georgia when he was killed by a landmine explosion near his Humvee as his unit conducted a combat patrol near Bayji, Iraq on 29 October 2005.

He was engaged to his high school sweetheart, Gretel Mink, who said that Kenny looked at the military as “a way to get his life together”. One of his co-workers said that Kenny was “a great American, fantastic Soldier, and a wonderful person.” He enjoyed drama and music. He is remembered by many as a good friend with a big smile, a kind word, and a welcome hug.
