John Mark Westfield, 38, of Hubert, died Monday evening, Feb. 19, 2007, in an accident.


He was born Feb. 21, 1968, in Susquehana, Pa., the son of the Rev. Henry E., Sr. and Alice Westfield of Dallas, Pa. A 1986 graduate of Dallas High School, he joined the United States Navy on June 26, 1986. He attended Recruit Training in Orlando, Fla., and Hospital Corpsman School in Great Lakes, Ill. John achieved the rank of Hospital Corpsman Chief Petty Officer and was the Directorate Leading Chief for Nursing Services at the Naval Hospital at Camp Lejeune.

He was a member of the Camp Lejeune Chief Petty Officers Association and the coordinator of the Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune Honors Detail. Chief Petty Officer Westfield was a highly decorated 20-year naval veteran who served in Iraq and at numerous naval and Marine Corps installations.

He is survived by his wife, Renee; daughters, Krystal and Bianca; his parents, Rev. Henry E. Sr. and Alice Westfield of Dallas, Pa.; his brothers, Wayne and Paul and aunt Joan Shrey of Pennsylvania.

He is also preceded in death by his brother, Henry E. Westfield.

He will be buried at the Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, New Hampshire with full military honors on Thursday, March 1.
