John Derek Flores, of Barrigada, Guam, would never hesitate to assist anyone in need. He was a most respectful, the most generous, appreciative person. He loved Spam and rice; when everyone else was in the mess hall, he’d be in the motor pool cooking Spam and rice. For him there was no better meal.

John had joined the Army to eventually relocate his young family and purchase a home in the United States.

Private First Class John D. Flores, 21, was killed May 3, 2007, when his unit came in contact with enemy forces using small arms fire in Baghdad, Iraq. He was assigned to Schweinfurt, Germany, with the Army Active duty 1st Battalion, 18th Infantry.
