SFC James Larry Tilby, Jr., U.S. Army, 44, entered into Heavenly rest May 3, 2011.

SFC Tilby was a native of Aiken County, having made Hampton, GA his home for the past 4 years. He was serving in the U.S. Army with the Army Ground Forces Band, Fort McPherson, GA. He had served in the Army for 22 years. SFC Tilby was an accomplished musician who had performed with Army Bands in 34 countries.

He was a loving husband and father who enjoyed cooking and planned to become a chef upon retirement from the Army. SFC Tilby was of the Lutheran Faith. He was a member of the Henry A. Green Lodge #250 F&AM, Lakewood, WA.

Survivors are his wife, Rose G. Tilby; four sons, James A. Tilby, Christian E. Tilby, Kharl D. Tilby, and, James L. “Trey” Tilby, III, a daughter, Aria K. Tilby, his parents, Larry and Linda Tilby, Sr., and a brother Jeff and sister-in-law Victoria Tilby.
