GULF OF ADEN 02/17/2006

Sergeant James F. Fordyce of Newton Square, Pennsylvania graduated from Marple Newtown High School and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps soon after in 2001.

Jim had served two tours in Iraq before being deployed to Djibouti as part of the Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa. He loved to work with his hands, and tinkering with cars or spending time with friends.

Jimmy is the son of James D. and Margaret Stone and the brother of Jack and Jessica and friend of Lesley Reed, grandson of John F., the late Helen Mee Fordyce and Floyd J., the late Margaret Mary Morley Stone.

He died at age 22 when two CH-53 helicopters crashed into the Gulf of Aden in the viscinity of Ras Siyyan, Northern Djibouti, while flying a training mission in the Godoria Range area.

My son Jimmy Fordyce loved hunting with his Dad, skiing with his brother and uncles camping and helicopters. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his girlfriend. He was very close with his brother and sister and is missed by everyone who knew him. He always had a smile that could light up the room. Like all our fallen heroes he was taken too soon.
