A talented F-15 Eagle fighter pilot and consummate professional, Major Greg Young died during a training exercise over the Pacific Ocean when his jet fighter crashed Tuesday 26 June 2007.

He was an Oregon native from St Helens. Always one to set and achieve high goals, he graduated from Oregon State University (OSU) as a civil engineer. He was commissioned through OSU’s AFROTC program. He received his pilot training at the Euro NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training Program. Colonel Steven Gregg, the 142nd Fighter Wing commander said “we lost one of our finest: a highly respected officer, gifted pilot, father, and friend.”

Major Young is survived by his wife, Tonya, and 4 children.
