Staff Sergeant Gregory C. Weitzel, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing Band, was remembered through pictures, stories, flowers and music at a memorial service held for him Monday at the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar Chapel.

Weitzel was killed July 21 in a traffic accident on Miramar Road. Weitzel joined the 3rd MAW Band Dec. 4, 2004, and served as a trombonist, platoon sergeant and assistant drum major. He deployed with the band in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
