YPSILANTI, MI, USA U.S. Marines MAJ, HMLA-369, MAG-39, 3D MAW, CAMP PENDLETON, CA ALI AN NU MAN, IRAQ 11/02/2005

Passion was something Gerald Bloomfield had in spades. As a kid, Jerry was known around Fowlerville MI as a daredevil, a free spirit – a good kid who was mischievous at times.

Jerry Bloomfield was a good-natured, humorous man who was focused on his career as a Marine and loved every minute of it. He was a career military man who believed in the job he was doing in Iraq – the freedom and the future of the country and its people.

At Eastern Michigan University he earned double degrees in math and physics. Before graduating he joined the Marines, became an officer and eventually an AH-1W Cobra helicopter pilot.

Major Gerald Bloomfield II received a score of accolades during his time with the Marines, which stretched back to 1989, including the Global War on Terror Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and the National Defenses Service Medal. He was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
