NATCHITOCHES, LA, USA U.S. Marine Corps LCPL, I CO, 3D BN, 2D MAR, (RCT-5, I MEF FWD), 2D MAR DIV, CAMP LEJEUNE, NC LANDSTUHL 08/28/2006

Donald Eugene Champlin was born on July 28, 1978. Donald attended Morningside College in Sioux City Iowa from August 1996 to May of 1999 after graduating from Belle Chasse High School, LA.

Three years ago, Donald E. Champlin had a medical technology degree from Louisiana State University, a job at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center as a medical technician and a son on the way, but there was a hole in his life. Champlin loved working in the labs, but he felt there was something missing. He filled it a year ago when he followed in his father’s footsteps and made the Marines a career. He kind of was going like his dad went. It’s a lifestyle. It’s not something you do, it’s who you are.

Donald was also an organ donor, wishing to help other people upon his death, as in life. He is survived by his father, retired Chief Warrant Officer Danny Champlin, his mother, and son, Mekhiah, 2. Donald was awarded two Purple Hearts for his heroic actions in Iraq. He had served there for less than a month.
