Born Dennis James Veater in Quantico, Va., he was the son of Sgt. Maj. Donald G. Veater, USMC, ret., and Donna Veater, of Clarks Summit. Dennis moved to Reading; Vista and Oceanside, Calif., Okinawa, Japan, and then Clarks Summit before settling in Jessup with his young family.
Dennis graduated from Abington Heights High School in 2004 and attended Penn State Worthington Scranton, where he studied criminal justice, before joining the Marine Corps Reserves. He knew that there was the possibility of being deployed, but he wanted to serve his country like his father had before him.
Dennis loved with his whole heart and everyone who met him loved him the same. He will be remembered for his good-hearted nature, eagerness to care for others and fun-loving attitude. He loved being in the spotlight and entertaining his family and friends by creating songs and dances, making faces, and cracking jokes. He truly was a family man.
Dennis is survived by his parents, his fiancee, Angalene Snipes, and their 14-month-old son, Dominick Alan; his two sisters, Karen (Paul Walker), Old Forge; and Patti (Henry) Cowan, Fayetteville, N.C.; his three brothers, Donald P. (Stephanie), Scranton; Gregory, Clarks Summit; and his twin brother, Adam, Clarks Summit; his grandparents, Donald J. and Betty Veater, Clarks Summit; his grandmother, Albina Haight, Watertown, S.D.; and his great-grandmother, Violet Veater, Uniontown. He will also be deeply missed by his three nephews, Avery, Donald and Logan; his two nieces, Leila and an unborn baby girl; his uncles, aunts, cousins and countless other friends.
