HOUSTON, TX, USA U.S. Army SGT, BATTERY C, 2D BATTALION, 12TH FIELD ARTILLERY, FORT LEWIS, WA RASHIDIYAH, IRAQ 06/16/2007

Danny Soto was a guy who was always thinking about other people, not himself. These were the words his sister Marci used to describe him following his death in Iraq on June 16, 2007. During his assignment in Iraq, the 24 year-old constantly begged his mother to send candy. After the last shipment, she learned it was for the local Iraqi children.

Danny was born in Honduras and moved to Texas when he was 11. Upon graduation from high school, he worked two jobs in Houston to support his wife, Vanessa, and their young son, Jonathen. He also is survived by his mother, Elia Horsford and father, Richardo Soto; sisters , Johana and Marcia Soto; and brothers, Richard Joseph, Mister Richard, and Joseph Dimas Soto.

Danny followed his dream to enlist in the Army because he wanted to be where the action was. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 12th Field Artillery Regiment, 4th Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team).
