WHEREAS, The death of United States Army Private First Class Christopher Dane Adan of Eagle Pass on December 17, 2007, at the age of 20, brought a great loss to the family and friends of this esteemed Texan; and

WHEREAS, A skilled sniper and gifted cavalry scout, Private Adan passed away while serving his country at Camp Casey in South Korea; he was assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 72nd Armor Regiment, 1st Heavy Brigade Combat Team; his ability and dedication earned him the high regard of his superiors and he was awarded two Army Achievement Medals and an Army Commendation Medal; and

WHEREAS, Christopher Adan was the son of Norma and Orlando Adan and the beloved brother of Eric and Jacqui; born on January 14, 1987, he graduated from Eagle Pass High School and also attended Southwest Texas Junior College and worked as a manager at McDonald’s before joining the army; in addition to participating in the Striders program, the cross-country and track enthusiast enjoyed skateboarding and rollerblading; and

WHEREAS, Caring and generous, Private Adan gave of his time and talent as a volunteer at the Boys and Girls Club; for the past two years, the club has honored him with the Christopher Dane Adan Race, a popular three-mile run for all elementary schools in Eagle Pass; and

WHEREAS, Our state and nation are indeed fortunate in the young men and women whose love of country leads them to military duty, and although no words can diminish the pain of a young life cut short, Christopher Adan will long be remembered for his patriotism and for the positive difference he made in his community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Private First Class Christopher Dane Adan and extend sincere sympathy to his family members and friends; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Christopher Adan.
