Caitlin E. Trask, 20, of Bradford, formerly of North Andover, died February 12, 2009, in Newport News, Virginia.
She was born in Lawrence on April 16, 1988, and was a longtime resident of North Andover until moving to Bradford with her family. She was a 2006 graduate of North Andover High School and worked during her high school years at CVS, the Girl Scout Camp and the Kumon Learning Center.
She attended St. Michael’s Church.
Despite offers from prestigious colleges, Ms. Trask’s passion was always to enter the U.S. military. So on September 7, she enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as a petty officer third class. During her career with the Navy, her drive, ambition and ability were duly noted and she was given high-ranking and highly sensitive duties during her deployments. She was awarded the Enlisted Surface Warfare Pin, the Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon, the National Defense Medal, the Global War On Terrorism Medal (expeditionary), the Global War On Terrorism Medal (Service) and the Navy Expert Pistol Ribbon. Her life was the U.S military.
Ms. Trask is survived by her parents, Donald and Mary (Baril) Trask of Bradford, and her brother, Jason Trask also of Bradford.
She is also survived by her grandmothers, Arlene Trask of Beverly and Dorothy Peters of North Andover; her aunts and uncles, Karen and Peter Ottley, Nancy Trask and James Trask, all of Beverly, as well as Elizabeth and Robert Reddish of Methuen, JoAnne and George Peters of North Andover, and James Baril and Joseph Baril, both of Lawrence; and several great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins.
